Timaya recently shared a fascinating story about Grammy award-winning musician Burna Boy, shedding light on his confidence and determination even before fame.

During an interview with Naija FM in Lagos, the singer recalled an incident that occurred years ago in a recording studio.

Present at the time were Burna Boy and renowned female singers Omawumi and Waje.

According to Timaya, Burna Boy made a bold declaration that one day he would be so successful that he would be paid to travel on private jets.

At the time, such a statement seemed far-fetched, as Nigerian artists weren’t known to fly privately, let alone get paid for it.

Timaya recounted how Omawumi and Waje expressed skepticism, questioning the possibility of Burna’s prediction.

Their doubt didn’t sit well with Burna Boy, who has always been known for his fearless and self-assured nature.

In response, he became visibly upset and asked them to leave the studio.

Timaya described this moment as a clear indication of Burna Boy’s unwavering belief in himself and his vision.

Omawumi and Waje, both highly respected in the Nigerian music industry, have carved successful careers of their own.

Omawumi, known for hits like “Bottom Belle” and “If You Ask Me,” is celebrated for her soulful voice and advocacy for women’s rights.

Waje, equally talented, gained prominence with her powerful vocals and songs like “I Wish” and her feature on P-Square’s “Do Me.”

Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, eventually fulfilled his prophecy and more.

Today, he is a global superstar, flying private jets and gracing stages worldwide.

With hits like “Ye” and “Last Last,” he has become one of Africa’s biggest music exports.
