Donald Trump Appoints Surgeon General with a Tragic Backstory
US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Dr. Janette Nesheiwat, 48, as the nation’s new Surgeon General. A celebrated medical expert frequently featured on Fox News, Dr. Nesheiwat is widely respected for her expertise and passion for healthcare. However, a haunting chapter from her childhood has recently resurfaced in the media.
According to The New York Times, Dr. Nesheiwat accidentally shot her father, Ben Nesheiwat, when she was just 13 years old.
The incident occurred in their Orlando, Florida, home in 1990. As per the police report, she was reaching for a pair of scissors in her father’s bedroom when a fishing tackle box on a shelf tipped over, causing a .38-caliber handgun inside to discharge. The bullet struck her father in the head, and he was declared dead the following day.
The coroner ruled the incident an “accidental shooting.” Dr. Nesheiwat later described the traumatic event in her memoir, Beyond The Stethoscope, but did not explicitly reference her role in her father’s death. Instead, she highlighted how witnessing his tragic death inspired her to pursue a career in medicine.
“When I was 13 years old, I helplessly watched my dear father dying from an accident as blood was spurting everywhere. I couldn’t save his life. This was the start of my personal journey in life to become a physician,” she wrote.
Despite the tragedy, Dr. Nesheiwat’s achievements in medicine have earned her widespread acclaim. She is set to take on the role of Surgeon General with a vision of improving healthcare access and outcomes for Americans.
Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has spoken about what he considers one of the country’s biggest problems, stating that many Nigerians are worried about government taxation, insecurity, and the increasing rate of kidnappings for ransom.
He lamented the situation and criticized the government, arguing that these issues have become deeply rooted and that there appears to be no lasting solution in sight.
According to him “In Nigeria we have two governments. One is collecting tax, the other one is collecting ransom. Both of them have one thing in common which is to make life difficult for their people.
The one that is collecting tax without doing anything will come and share you rice and semolina. The one that is collecting ransom is doing giveaway on social media.”
It was reported that bandits were seen in Kwara State and abducted six residents from Rukpete Village.
The incident was reported to have occurred on June 8 at about 11 p.m.
Sources revealed that seven people were initially taken, but an elderly man was later released, leaving six victims in captivity.
The rising cases of insecurity in the country remain quite alarming.
The state of the country is affecting many people, as they believe nowhere is safe, including schools where they keep their children.
It has been reported that some parents have started withdrawing their children from schools in Abuja.
It can be noted that rumours of bandits being sighted near a school triggered panic, causing parents to hurriedly remove their children for safety.
While the reports of bandits have not been confirmed, the school has also issued safety measures to ensure the protection of students within the premises.
