Peter Obi, the former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, made a visit to Ekiti State, where he met with renowned legal expert Afe Babalola, SAN, to discuss the ongoing legal troubles of human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi.

The visit took place at Afe Babalola University in Ado-Ekiti, with Obi aiming to mediate and seek a resolution for Farotimi’s predicament.

Farotimi, known for his outspoken advocacy against corruption and injustice, was recently detained at an Ekiti prison after Afe Babalola filed a petition that led to his arrest.

The legal tussle has sparked widespread public outcry, with many Nigerians criticizing Babalola’s decision.

On Monday, the court granted Farotimi bail, setting the conditions at ₦50 million and a surety of the same amount.

The visit was revealed by social activist Moses Paul, who shared photos on X, detailing how Obi dedicated his entire day to these engagements.

According to Paul, Obi’s discussions with Afe Babalola covered pressing national issues, particularly the challenges faced by activists like Farotimi who risked their freedom to stand up for justice and transparency.
