Arteta Confirms January Transfers After Arsenal’s Derby Triumph
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed the club’s plans to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window.
Speaking after his team’s impressive 2-1 comeback victory over Tottenham on Wednesday night, Arteta emphasized the need for reinforcements as they navigate injuries to key players.
The win in the North London Derby keeps Arsenal’s Premier League title hopes alive. They now sit four points behind league leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand. However, Arteta faces a tough challenge with the loss of two crucial players.
“We’ve lost two very important players,” Arteta revealed. “Bukayo [Saka] could be sidelined for up to three months, and Gabriel Jesus might be out for an even longer period.
So yes, we’re looking to bring in new players this window. We’re actively searching and will see what’s possible.”
Arteta also took time to praise 18-year-old Miles Lewis-Skelly, who made a remarkable debut in the North London Derby.
“Lewis-Skelly was phenomenal,” Arteta said. “He’s got this incredible self-belief and personality.
To come into a game of this magnitude, against opponents of that quality, and deliver such a performance is exceptional.
He managed the occasion brilliantly and proved he belongs at this level.”
