Ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season, beginning this weekend, Arsenal have confirmed their squad numbers for the players.

In a post on the club’s website, Mikel Arteta’s side confirmed that Bruno Guimaraes, who joined the Gunners from Newcastle United, will wear the number 39 jersey.

Former Nigerian footballer Jay-Jay Okocha shares a club he almost joined.

“I got an offer from Bayern Munich. I went with their youth team to a tournament in Switzerland, and after that, they wanted to sign me.”

“Because I turned 18 in August, German rules stated that you had to turn 18 before July to play professionally that season. Because of that, I wasn’t even allowed to play in the promotion play-offs for the third division team I was playing for, even though we won our regional league and were aiming for the professional second division.”

Okocha has previously spoken about the failed move to Bayern Munich, explaining that he took part in a tournament with Bayern’s youth team in Switzerland and was later invited to Munich, but the move did not happen.
