Former Chelsea star Joe Cole believes Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez has what it takes to win the Ballon d’Or in the future.

Speaking after Álvarez scored a stunning goal in Atlético Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League loss to Real Madrid, Cole was full of praise for the Argentine forward.

“You won’t see a better goal in the Champions League. It was beautiful, absolutely sensational,” Cole said on TNT Sports.

He mentioned Álvarez’s incredible achievements at just 25, saying, “This kid has won it all and done it all. I think we’ll see the best of him over the next five years, and I believe he’s a future Ballon d’Or winner.”

Saudi club Al-Hilal has given Victor Osimhen a deadline this Friday to decide on their transfer offer. The Blue Waves are ready to activate the €75 million release clause in Osimhen’s contract, while also offering the Nigerian striker a lucrative deal worth €30 million per season.

Transfer expert Ben Jacobs reports that Al-Hilal remains hopeful Osimhen will say yes. This isn’t their first try to sign him—Al-Hilal first showed interest back in January 2023. Last summer, Osimhen agreed to join another Saudi team, Al-Ahli, but Napoli pushed for a higher fee, delaying the move.
