The beloved musical “Mamma Mia!” is set to make a triumphant return to Broadway this summer. The show will begin a six-month limited engagement at the Winter Garden Theatre, running from August 14, 2025, to February 1, 2026.

This revival holds special significance, as it follows the celebration of the show’s 10,000th performance in London’s West End on July 17, 2024. The original West End production debuted on April 6, 1999, at the Prince Edward Theatre, and has since become one of the longest-running shows in West End history.

“Mamma Mia!” first graced Broadway in 2001, opening at the Winter Garden Theatre, where it enjoyed a successful 12-year run before transferring to the Broadhurst Theatre. The upcoming return to its original Broadway home is highly anticipated by fans and theater enthusiasts alike.

Producer Judy Craymer, who played a pivotal role in bringing the original production to life, expressed her enthusiasm about the show’s return to Broadway. She stated the enduring appeal of “Mamma Mia!” and its ability to bring joy to audiences worldwide.

The musical, which uses ABBA’s timeless songs into a heartwarming narrative, has been a global phenomenon, with productions staged in numerous countries and languages. Its return to Broadway offers both new audiences and long-time fans the opportunity to experience the magic of “Mamma Mia!” once again.

She expressed concern about how Afrobeats is becoming too repetitive and urged artists to experiment with new sounds.

“Afrobeats and African music need to evolve. It needs to evolve in a direction that is fearless, and I think right now artists have made so much money from a certain type of sound that they are afraid to step out of the boundaries because they are probably more focused on the financial aspect of it.
