Burna Boy Marks Life and Success with Debut Single of 2024 ‘Higher’

The popular Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has kicked off 2024 with the release of his first single, titled “Higher”. Burna Boy’s latest single follows a monumental 2023, where he made history as the first African artist to perform at the main Grammy Awards ceremony.

Sharing the stage with 21 Savage and Brandy at the 66th Grammys, he also achieved another milestone as the first Nigerian artist nominated as a lead artist outside the global categories, thanks to his hit single ‘Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ featuring 21 Savage, nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance. Adding to his accolades, Burna Boy recently set records for the highest-grossing concert by an African artist in the United States and the highest-grossing tour by an African artist in Canada.

Looking ahead, Burna Boy is preparing for a historic performance at London Stadium on June 29, 2024. This marks his second time headlining the stadium, following his groundbreaking achievement as the first African artist to do so in the UK in 2023.

Instead, he said he is scared of poverty and has this fear because he has experienced it before. “I am not afraid of death. The only thing I am afraid of in this life is poverty, of being broke.

“I have tasted it [poverty] before. I have been in our house with my parents and siblings, and a bulldozer came and demolished it.”
