Sanwo-Olu Urges Lagos Youths to Join Nigerian Army and Build Their Future
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged young people across the state to take advantage of the ongoing Nigerian Army recruitment exercise..
In a statement released by Olumuyiwa Ojelabi from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the governor announced that registration for the 89 Regular Recruits Intake for both trades and non-trades roles will end on Saturday, May 17, 2025. Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, at a stakeholder event held at the Olofin of Isheri Olofin’s palace, Sanwo-Olu encouraged eligible youths to step forward and consider the Army as a viable career path.
He said it’s time to change the outdated views about military life, explaining that the modern Nigerian Army offers more than just combat roles. “There are now strong opportunities in tech, education, and personal growth,” Salu-Hundeyin said. The event brought together community leaders, religious heads, youths, parents, and artisans to spread awareness about the benefits of joining the Army.
Sanwo-Olu added that serving in the military allows one to contribute meaningfully to the country while gaining access to professional training in fields like law, medicine, and aviation. He also restated the government’s commitment to supporting qualified applicants from Lagos as they pursue careers in the armed forces.
