Ruger Says Having His First Heartbreak at 6 Led to Emotional Struggles
Nigerian singer, Ruger, has opened up about the trauma of his first heartbreak, which he experienced at a surprisingly young age. The ‘Toma Toma’ artist recalled being just six years old when a woman he thought of as his girlfriend—someone who had often called him her “boyfriend”—broke his heart.
In a recent interview on The Bro Bants show, Ruger shared how he once witnessed this woman with another man, an experience that left a deep emotional scar. “I was so young, I thought she was really my girlfriend,” he said. “One day, I saw a guy with her through her window, and he was with her in a way that shattered me. I was crying. That’s when it all started. I remember playing ‘Imagine That’ by Styl-Plus over and over. That moment marked the beginning of my emotional struggles, and it stayed with me.”
Ruger admitted that the heartbreak shaped his attitude as he grew up, leading to what he describes as a toxic mindset.
