IBBU Lapai Student Stabbed to Death During Robbery Near Campus
The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, was thrown into mourning after an undergraduate was stabbed to death during a robbery near the campus in Niger State.
The incident happened in the early hours of Monday when armed men stormed a student lodge in the Ndakatabu area, just outside the school gate. The victim, identified by fellow students as Jafar, a 200-level Education student, was attacked and stabbed in the neck. He was rushed to the General Hospital in Lapai but sadly did not survive.
News of his death spread quickly across the university community, leading to protests by students who blocked the busy Agaie–Lapai highway. They demanded justice for their colleague and called for stronger security both within and around the school environment.
“We can’t keep living in fear every night,” one angry student said. “The government and school authorities must act before more lives are lost.”
The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident, with Commissioner of Police Adamu Elleman ordering a full investigation and a manhunt for the attackers. Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun said tactical teams had been deployed and assured students that those behind the crime would be caught.

Pastor Tunde Bakare Speaks on Rising Kidnappings, Urges Government Action

The pastor urges the government on steps they can take to solve and help the people of the country. “The Nigerian government has a clear and urgent duty to protect these Middle Belt communities, who have carried the weight of violence for far too long.”
“Rather than play the ostrich and cover up clear terrorism as mere farmer-herder clashes, the Nigerian state has a responsibility to invade the camps of armed marauders who hide under the cloak of herdsmen of whatever ethnicity, and who invade defenceless communities and gleefully massacre unarmed men, women and children.”
