Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, marks his 71st birthday, and tributes are pouring in from across Nigeria and beyond. Born on September 27, 1954, in Osogbo, with roots in Omu-Aran, Kwara State, Oyedepo has grown into one of Africa’s most influential Christian leaders. He is widely respected for his teachings, philanthropy, and contributions to education.

Raised in a family with both Muslim and Christian backgrounds, he found his path to Christianity at the age of 15. He later studied architecture at Kwara State Polytechnic before answering what he describes as a divine call in 1981. That vision led him to start what would become the Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners’ Chapel, which has since grown into a global ministry with branches in many parts of the world.

Beyond the pulpit, Oyedepo has invested heavily in education. He established Covenant University and Landmark University, both of which rank among Nigeria’s leading private institutions. Through Dominion Publishing House, his books and teachings have reached millions across the world.

President Bola Tinubu joined many others in celebrating the cleric. He describes him as a man whose work in ministry, education, and humanitarian service continues to touch lives across the nation.
