Former US President Donald Trump recently shared a harrowing account of narrowly escaping an assassination attempt during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.

Reflecting on the incident, Trump described the experience as deeply surreal, emphasizing his disbelief at surviving what he believed was a fatal attack.

At 78 years old, Trump sustained an injury to his right ear when a gunman fired a shot, tragically resulting in the death of an innocent bystander and injuring two others.

In an interview with the New York Post, Trump recounted the moment, revealing that he believes he owes his survival to a fortunate tilt of his head as he was addressing the crowd about illegal immigration.

“I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead,” he remarked, expressing both shock and gratitude for his continued existence.

The former president acknowledged the speculation surrounding the event, with many attributing his survival to either sheer luck or divine intervention.

The incident has left Trump contemplating the fragility of life and the unpredictability of events.

He admitted to feeling a profound sense of gratitude for still being alive, recognizing the gravity of the situation and its implications for his future engagements. Despite the attempted assassination, Trump remains undeterred in his public appearances and has vowed to continue addressing issues important to him and his supporters.

Former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke has filed a motion to amend her lawsuit challenging the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) order for the final forfeiture of her seized assets.

At a Federal High Court hearing in Abuja presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, Alison-Madueke’s counsel confirmed filing the amendment motion and serving the EFCC. Notably, no EFCC representatives appeared in court.

The embattled ex-minister also sought an extension of time to contest the EFCC’s public notice regarding the sale of her confiscated properties, claiming she was denied a fair hearing during the forfeiture proceedings.

The EFCC, however, rejected Alison-Madueke’s allegations, maintaining that the forfeiture cases were lawfully adjudicated over time.

Justice Ekwo adjourned the case to February 17, 2025, to consider the motion to amend the originating process.
