According to a report by Premium Times, Sabinus’ father was abducted on the night of July 9, 2024. The incident occurred between 7:30 pm and 8:00 pm when Mr. Ejekwu was returning to his home in Port Harcourt after a trip outside Rivers State. As he was about to enter his house, armed men intercepted and kidnapped him. During their escape, a gunfight broke out between the kidnappers and the local security force, Ospac, resulting in the death of one Ospac member. Additionally, a neighbor of Mr. Ejekwu was struck by a stray bullet and has been hospitalized.

Sabinus, a well-known Nigerian comedian, reacted a few days after his father’s release, which was secured by paying the ransom demanded by the kidnappers. Sabinus has often expressed his deep affection for his father, describing him as his greatest role model and inspiration. He has credited his father as the reason he pursued a career in comedy, sharing his admiration and the impact his father has had on his life.

Previously, Sabinus had joined in this year’s Father’s Day celebration on June 18, sharing endearing photos on social media and humorously describing himself as the father of the next biggest clown. This incident with his father highlights the comedian’s close family ties and the significant influence his father has had on his personal and professional life.
