The 2024 Emmy nominations have made headlines with groundbreaking achievements from Selena Gomez, the comedy series ‘The Bear’, and the drama series ‘Shogun’.

Selena Gomez, known for her multifaceted talents in both acting and music, celebrated her inaugural acting Emmy nomination.

Recognized for her role as Mabel in ‘Only Murders In The Building’, she secured a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.

Additionally, Gomez earned acclaim as the most Emmy-nominated Latina producer in the Best Comedy Series category, credited for her role as an executive producer on Hulu’s ‘Only Murders In The Building’.

Meanwhile, the comedy series ‘The Bear’ set a new record by snagging an impressive 23 nominations in a single year, surpassing the previous record of 22 held by ’30 Rock’ in 2009.

In the drama category, ‘Shogun’ took the lead with an outstanding 25 nominations, solidifying its status as a frontrunner in this year’s Emmy Awards.

Among the nominees, Nigerian-American actress Ayo Edebiri received recognition for her role and was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

She joins a competitive field that includes other luminaries such as Quinta Brunson, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Jean Smart, and Selena Gomez.

Expressing her joy and gratitude for the nominations, Selena Gomez took to Instagram to share a photo of herself beside a congratulatory cake adorned with the words ‘Congratulations Emmy Nominee’.

In her post, she expressed deep gratitude to the cast and crew of ‘Only Murders In The Building’ for the opportunity to portray Mabel.

Nigerian singer BNXN has made a claim online that has generated mixed reactions. The singer stated that living in Lagos is more expensive than living in Los Angeles, drawing from his personal experience in the United States.

Speaking about life abroad, BNXN explained that there are fewer financial obligations and requests for money compared to Nigeria, where people are often expected to support relatives and acquaintances.

“I was telling someone, since I got to the United States, I haven’t seen one egbon adugbo asking me to press money. Lagos is too expensive abeg. Lagos is more expensive than LA (Los Angeles),” BNXN stated.

It can also be recalled that Blessing CEO previously claimed she was battling Stage 4 breast cancer, a revelation that drew sympathy from many people and reportedly led to financial support from members of the public.

While investigations are still ongoing, the influencer remains innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
