Young Jonn Discusses Challenges of Becoming a Performing Artist
Nigerian singer Young Jonn revealed that the most challenging aspect of transitioning from a producer to a performing artist was convincing himself he could succeed. In a recent interview with Isi Ijewere on her Backstage Banter trivia YouTube segment, he reflected on his journey after a performance in Canada.
When asked about the hardest part of the transition, Young Jonn admitted, “The hardest part was self-conviction, actually convincing myself that I could do it. That was the hardest part, where I was on stage asking myself if I really wanted to do this or not. It was really hard for me to convince myself that I got this.”
During the interview, Young Jonn also shared that the last time he cried was when he lost his mother and acknowledged that everyone lies to themselves at times to feel better. He expressed his dislike for people who aren’t true to themselves, stating, “When you are true to yourself, that’s when you can be true to anybody else, but if you’re not true to yourself, you’re living a lie.”
