The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an Immigration Fraud Section across several of its commands to address rising immigration-related fraud. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede announced this initiative on Tuesday while hosting a delegation from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), led by Director General Superintendent Rabhi Abdallah, at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja.

Olukoyede explained that the new section, established two weeks ago, aims to combat immigration fraud and mitigate its negative impact on the country’s reputation. The section is now operational in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, and all zonal commands with embassies. He emphasized the need to focus resources on preventing visa and immigration scams that have affected many individuals and diplomatic missions. Olukoyede also expressed the EFCC’s willingness to collaborate with the RCMP in tackling corruption.
