NDLEA Intercepts Illicit Drugs Concealed in Baby Food and Clothes at Lagos Airport
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted multiple consignments of illicit drugs concealed in tins of Cerelac baby food and clothes at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) and a courier firm in Lagos.
On July 31, 2024, NDLEA officers recovered 36 parcels of cannabis, weighing 18.50 kilograms, hidden in six cartons of Nestle Cerelac baby food at the SAHCOL export shed. A freight agent, Salaudeen Suliat Abiola, and the sender, Bello Motunrayo Folu, were arrested.
In another operation, five shipments of opioids and other psychoactive substances, including promethazine, pentazocine, diazepam, tramadol, and morphine, were intercepted on July 29, 2024, at a logistics company in Lagos.
Meanwhile, at Tincan port on August 2, 2024, NDLEA officers recovered 77 packages of Canadian Loud cannabis from vehicles imported from Canada, leading to the arrest of two suspects, Salami Abiodun Sunday and Lekan Atoyebi.

Concern Grows Over Rising Insecurity Following Kwara Abduction Case
It was reported that bandits were seen in Kwara State and abducted six residents from Rukpete Village.
The incident was reported to have occurred on June 8 at about 11 p.m.
Sources revealed that seven people were initially taken, but an elderly man was later released, leaving six victims in captivity.
