Afrobeat Singer, Rotimi Reveals Reason For Leaving 50 Cent’s Record Label
Afrobeat Singer, Rotimi reveals why he left American Rapper, 50 Cent’s record label, G-Unit. The singer shares that 50 Cent and the producers did not understand afrobeats and it was not a mainstream in the western world.
Rotimi shares this information in a recent interview with Adesope Live “I was signed to G-Unit, but then in 2017/2018, Afrobeats was not mainstream in the United States. Davido and Wizkid had records that were gaining traction in Boston, New York, but it wasn’t mainstream at that time.”
“Afrobeats was big in the States, but they weren’t following it in LA. So, 50 Cent and I had a conversation. He was like, ‘What’s this sound you are trying to do?’ I said, ‘Bro, it’s Afrobeats.”
VeryDarkMan shares that he was warned by Burna Boy once that the Nigerians he fights for will one day turn on him.
He shared “Burna Boy warned me, he said the Nigerians I’m fighting for will backstab me. They’ll put knife in your neck if they have the opportunity.”
