Agriculture Ministry Unveils Zinc-Enriched Rice Varieties to Boost Food and Nutrition Security
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security reveals the aim to improve food and nutrition safety in Nigeria.
Abubakar Kyari, the minister of Agriculture and Food Security then announced the intention to introduce different types of zinc rice, which will enhance the security of food.
During a brief interview with the media, the minister shared on the 29th of April the plan to ensure food safety in the country.
“The introduction of these varieties is a proactive step towards addressing the nutritional challenges faced by our people.”
He then highlights the benefits of zinc rice, stating that they offer higher zinc content and are climate resilient and will leave a higher impact on the smallholder farmers.
