The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to rumours suggesting that President Bola Tinubu may have been displeased with Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, who recently stepped down as the party’s National Chairman.

There have been claims that Tinubu’s alleged dissatisfaction with Ganduje played a role in his resignation. However, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed those claims during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, describing them as mere speculation.

Morka explained that only President Tinubu can personally address the matter concerning Ganduje if he chooses to. “The President is free to speak on any issue whenever he feels like it. He hasn’t said anything about this, so people are just speculating. But we don’t run on speculation,” Morka stated.

Last week, the APC confirmed Ganduje’s resignation, which took immediate effect. The official reason given was that Ganduje was stepping down to focus on “pressing personal matters.”

President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has sent a strong message to Peter Obi, cautioning him against forming a joint ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 elections. Onanuga believes Obi would not enjoy the same level of passionate support he had in 2023 if he decides to play second fiddle to Atiku.

According to him, many of Obi’s supporters were drawn to his individual candidacy and would likely not back an alliance that makes him a running mate. Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Onanuga maintained that the APC remains confident going into 2027. He said Tinubu’s work in office will speak volumes when it’s time to campaign again.

He added that while opposition figures like Obi, Atiku, and other political players are busy testing out alliances and strategies, the ruling party is focused on governance and delivery, which, he claims, will keep Tinubu in power beyond 2027. Obi and Atiku are currently involved in a political coalition that recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform.

Nollywood star Yul Edochie has urged President Bola Tinubu to stay focused on fixing Nigeria’s current problems instead of getting caught up in early talks about the 2027 elections. In a message shared on Instagram, Yul, who has openly supported Tinubu in the past, said Nigerians are dealing with serious struggles, especially the rising cost of living and growing insecurity.

He wrote directly to the president, asking him not to be distracted by political noise: “We’re still in 2025. People are suffering. The focus should be on reducing hardship and restoring security. These are the real issues.” He ended his post with a prayer for Tinubu’s leadership, hoping he stays guided through the challenges ahead.
