Super Falcons star defender Ashleigh Plumptre had an unforgettable moment in Lagos recently as she reconnected with two very important people, her father and Nigerian football icon Jay Jay Okocha.

The meetup occurred during her visit to Nigeria. When Ashleigh walked into the room and saw her dad, her face immediately lit up. They shared a warm, emotional hug.

Many fans may not know this, but Ashleigh didn’t just wake up and choose Nigeria. It was something deeply personal. Her dad played a big part in helping her understand her Nigerian roots and encouraged her to embrace that side of herself.

Additionally, Jay Jay Okocha, one of the most respected names in African football stepped in, and Ashleigh greeted him with excitement and humility. They shook hands, exchanged smiles, and had a brief chat. Jay Jay praised her growth, commitment, and the pride she brings to the Super Falcons.

“I remember being 15 and going into my final year, and I told myself that if I didn’t get into a professional club, I would quit football. It was that simple,” he said.

“I would just stop pursuing it seriously and only play for fun. Thank God I eventually got a club, because I honestly don’t know where I would be otherwise.”
