Atalanta Co-Owner Admits Gasperini Was Wrong to Criticize Lookman
Atalanta co-owner Stephen Pagliuca has admitted that head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was wrong in his remarks about Ademola Lookman.
Gasperini had publicly criticized Lookman after the winger missed a crucial penalty in Atalanta’s 3-1 loss to Club Brugge, calling him “one of the worst penalty takers.” Lookman later responded, saying the comment was “disrespectful.”
Pagliuca, however, insists the issue has been settled within the club. Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, he emphasized that Atalanta operates on a policy of collective responsibility, especially when things don’t go as planned.
“He made a mistake by singling out an individual,” Pagliuca said. “At Atalanta, we take responsibility as a team. We reflect on our own performances and focus on improvement.”
