Atalanta director Tony D’Amico has revealed that a final decision on Ademola Lookman’s future will only be taken at the close of the summer transfer window.

The Nigerian forward recently returned to the club’s training camp for pre-season after a turbulent few weeks. Earlier this month, Lookman handed in a transfer request and even skipped training sessions as he pushed for a move to Inter Milan.

Inter were keen on signing him but later pulled out of negotiations after refusing to match Atalanta’s €50 million asking price. The 27-year-old now faces possible disciplinary action from his club for his conduct.

Speaking on the issue, D’Amico admitted the situation has left the club disappointed but stressed that a clearer picture will emerge once the window closes. “We are sorry for everyone, but right now this is the situation. We’ll make assessments at the end of the transfer window. As of today, there’s disappointment,” he said.
