Ayra Starr Says She Hopes Her Mom Doesn’t Hear Her Second Verse in “Gimme Dat”
Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr recently revealed that she hopes her mother never hears the second verse of her new collaboration with Wizkid, “Gimme Dat,” where she confidently addresses a man, instructing him to “survey” his private parts.
In this bold verse, which samples Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 hit “911,” Starr sings about how many men watch her for the wrong reasons, but she knows how to turn that attention into empowerment.
“So many people wan lick my stew, so baby chill make I survey your tools… and if I handle your 2 by 2, you fit to scream, you go lose your cool,” she croons, causing an instant stir among listeners.
While many fans praised her creativity, others felt the verse was too explicit. Starr took to her X account on Saturday to share that she’s not too keen on her mom hearing it. She wrote, “Hopefully my mom never listens to my second verse.”
