Daniel Bwala, a former aide to Atiku Abubakar, has shared strong doubts about the former vice president’s chances of ever becoming Nigeria’s president. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Bwala openly stated that Atiku might not be destined to lead the country, despite years of trying.

“In my honest view, it may not be in God’s plan for him to be president,” Bwala said. “He has done all he could, but it just didn’t happen.” He pointed to the 2023 elections as Atiku’s best shot, calling it a missed opportunity that may never come again.

Bwala, who was once Atiku’s campaign spokesperson, has now shifted his support to President Bola Tinubu and doesn’t believe any of the current opposition figures; including Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi; stand a real chance in 2027.

Senate Minority Leader and PDP chieftain, Abba Moro, has hinted that Peter Obi and former President Goodluck Jonathan could return to the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the Benue South Senator revealed that conversations are already taking place about Obi’s possible comeback. According to him, some individuals are reaching out to the former Labour Party presidential candidate, urging him to return with the promise that he stands a strong chance of becoming PDP’s candidate if he does.

When asked about Goodluck Jonathan, Moro admitted that some party members are also in talks with the former president about a possible run. While acknowledging concerns from those who argue over constitutional limits due to Jonathan’s previous terms, Moro dismissed the fears, recalling how the matter was settled in 2015 when Jonathan’s eligibility was legally upheld.

He maintained that both men remain influential figures, and their return could reshape the PDP’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abba Moro, the Senator representing Benue South and current Senate Minority Leader, has said that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, could have a shot at clinching the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential ticket if he decides to return to the party.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Moro explained that politics is unpredictable, noting that “in politics, two plus two is not always four.” He stressed that discussions within political circles are often driven by collective interests, especially from communities within different geopolitical zones.

According to him, while the PDP has not officially reached out to Obi, some individuals have already opened conversations with him. Moro added that if Obi eventually comes back and emerges as the most popular and widely accepted aspirant, then he stands a strong chance of carrying the PDP flag in the 2027 elections.

He emphasized that many within the party believe Obi’s return and candidacy could significantly boost PDP’s chances in the next general elections.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed claims that he is desperate to become Nigeria’s president. Speaking on Saturday, Atiku said his focus is not on personal ambition but on the need to rescue the country from its present state. He was reacting to those who believe he should step aside for younger politicians.

The 2023 presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has often faced criticism over his repeated attempts at the presidency, stressed that his desire to contest has never been about desperation. Atiku made the remarks through Prof. Ola Olateju while serving as guest speaker at an event in Lagos State, where some leaders of the PDP and Labour Party officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He explained that his vision is to build a country Nigerians everywhere would be proud of, noting that leadership should be about service and progress, not personal gain. “It is not about Atiku having to be president at all costs,” he said.

He also described the ADC as more than just a political party, but a growing movement of Nigerians determined to end poor governance and set the nation on the path of growth and greatness.
