Shakira’s Boston Concert Canceled at the Last Minute Because of Safety Problems

Shakira’s concert in Boston, which was meant to light up Fenway Park on May 29, was suddenly called off just hours before showtime, leaving thousands of fans stunned and frustrated. The show was part of her highly anticipated “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” World Tour, and many had traveled far, booked hotels, and looked forward to seeing the global superstar live.

The reason for the abrupt cancellation wasn’t a last-minute change of plans or a health issue—it was safety. During final stage preparations, there was a problem with the structure. Large screens were being installed when the stage roof reportedly bent under the weight. City safety inspectors stepped in, reviewed the setup, and made the call to shut everything down, citing real concerns over the risk it could pose to the crowd, crew, and performers.

Fans were already around the venue and some had even started taking their seats before word got out. Shakira had earlier posted a cheerful message online, saying how happy she was to be in Boston and ready to put on a great show. The vibe quickly shifted to disappointment and confusion as news of the cancellation spread.

Refunds have been promised for all ticket holders through the original point of purchase. No update has been given yet on whether the concert will be rescheduled, but fans are being urged to keep an eye on official announcements.

This wasn’t an isolated issue either. Other shows at Fenway Park, including performances by Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn, were also suddenly canceled this week. While full details aren’t clear, it’s raising questions about what’s really going on behind the scenes at the venue.

The new K-drama Good Boy is already creating a buzz as it gets ready to hit JTBC screens on May 31, 2025. Packed with action, comedy, and emotional depth, this series brings something fresh to the table: a story about former athletes who swap medals for badges and step into the world of crime fighting.

At the center of it all is Park Bo-gum, who plays Yoon Dong-joo, a former Olympic boxing champ. Once the pride of the nation, Yoon’s life takes a different turn after a series of personal struggles. Now, he’s part of a special police unit that handles serious crimes. The ring may be gone, but his fighting spirit is still very much alive. His journey is all about finding new purpose and adjusting to a world where fists aren’t always the answer.

Kim So-hyun plays Ji Han-na, a former Olympic shooting gold medalist. Calm, sharp, and fiercely determined, she’s left her sports career behind after a painful incident and now wears the police uniform with pride. Her unmatched precision and cool-headedness make her a strong asset to the team, and her chemistry with Bo-gum’s character is something fans are looking forward to.

They’re not alone.

Additionally, the drama features a solid team of ex-athletes now working in law enforcement. Lee Sang-yi joins as a quick-thinking former fencer, Heo Sung-tae as a retired wrestler who now leads the unit, Tae Won-seok as a powerful ex-discus thrower, and Oh Jung-se as a customs officer whose polite exterior might be hiding something deeper. Together, they form a unit that’s as unusual as it is effective. Their different sports backgrounds give them unexpected strengths in the field.

Behind the scenes, Good Boy is in good hands. It’s written by Lee Dae-il, the mind behind Chief of Staff and Life on Mars, and directed by Shim Na-yeon, known for Beyond Evil and The Good Bad Mother. With this duo steering the ship, fans can expect a mix of tension, humor, and human moments that stick.

In addition, the show will air every Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 PM (KST) on JTBC. For viewers outside Korea, it’ll be available on Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video, so international fans can keep up with the story as it unfolds.
