Carlos Santana Rushed to Hospital Before His Texas Show Due to Dehydration
Carlos Santana, the iconic guitarist known for his electric performances and timeless music, was taken to the hospital on Monday evening, April 22, 2025, after falling ill just before a planned concert in San Antonio, Texas.
The 77-year-old music legend was backstage at the Majestic Theatre when he reportedly began to feel unwell. Paramedics were quickly called to the scene, and Santana was transported to a nearby medical facility on a stretcher. Initial reports suggest that dehydration may have been the cause of the emergency, but he is currently undergoing more tests to be sure.
This isn’t the first time Santana has faced health challenges during a tour. Back in 2022, he collapsed during a show in Michigan, with doctors later confirming it was due to heat exhaustion and dehydration. Earlier this year, in January, he had to delay the start of his Las Vegas residency after suffering a fall that left him with a broken finger.
His team has confirmed that he is recovering and in good spirits. While the San Antonio show has been postponed, fans are being told to hold on to their tickets, as a new date will be announced once he’s cleared to perform again.
Carlos Santana remains one of the most respected names in rock and Latin music. Even after decades in the industry, he’s still actively touring and recently released a new album titled Sentient, featuring collaborations with major artists.
Though this health scare was unexpected, Santana’s fans remain hopeful. For now, the focus is on his recovery, with the promise of more music and memorable performances in the future.
