Chief Justice of Nigeria Addresses Concerns Over Judicial Integrity, Stresses Role of Ethics and Morality
Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, acknowledged that a few judges are damaging the reputation of the Nigerian judiciary.
Speaking on Saturday at an event organized by the Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness (MICA), marking its 30th anniversary and the elevation of Justice Habeeb Adewale Abiru to the Supreme Court, Justice Kekere-Ekun highlighted the need for ethical accountability among judges.
While commending the majority of Nigerian judges for their knowledge and dedication, she warned that judges must recognize their accountability not only to society but also to God. She urged that the judiciary be aligned with fundamental ethical principles to maintain public trust and support for the law.
Justice Kekere-Ekun also emphasized that legal professionals must balance the law with ethical and moral principles rooted in society’s religious values.
This commitment to justice, she noted, influences public trust in the judiciary and highlights the legal system’s duty to resonate with the community’s moral convictions.

Analyst Says Tinubu Not Responsible for Recent U.S.-Linked Airstrike Claims
Nigerian news analyst, Mahmud Jega, has shared his opinion on the recent airstrike carried out by the United States in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu for the incident.
Jega made this statement during a recent interview, where he said he does not believe many people will hold the Tinubu administration responsible, as Donald Trump had issued threats against Nigeria long before Tinubu’s administration.
“No, I don’t think many people will blame the Tinubu administration for what is happening now because President Donald Trump, when he first made the threats, it was clearly not in coordination with the Tinubu administration or the government of Nigeria,” Jega said.
