Coldplay to Headline First-Ever World Cup Final Halftime Show in 2026
In a groundbreaking move, FIFA has announced the introduction of a Super Bowl-style halftime show for the 2026 World Cup final, marking the first time such an event will be incorporated into the tournament’s pinnacle match.
Scheduled for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, this 15-minute performance aims to enhance the spectator experience and broaden the event’s entertainment appeal.
Coldplay’s lead vocalist, Chris Martin, along with the band’s manager, Phil Harvey, have been enlisted by FIFA to curate the list of artists for this inaugural halftime show. Their involvement is expected to bring a diverse and dynamic lineup to the event, reflecting the global nature of the World Cup.
In addition to the halftime performance, FIFA plans to extend the festivities beyond the stadium. A fan festival is slated to take place in New York City’s Times Square during the final weekend of the tournament, coinciding with both the bronze final match and the championship game.
