Comfort Emmanson, the woman whose name went viral after an ugly scene on an Ibom Air flight, has suddenly gone from facing jail time to receiving a fat job offer and an all-expenses-paid trip. The twist has left many Nigerians talking.

The incident began on August 10 during a flight from Uyo to Lagos. Passengers claimed that Emmanson refused to switch off her phone as the plane prepared for takeoff. Things got heated after another passenger tried to switch it off for her. By the time the flight landed, the situation had blown up. In videos that later spread online, Emmanson was seen shouting, hitting a crew member, pulling her wig, and even grabbing a fire extinguisher before security dragged her off the plane.

She was arrested and sent to Kirikiri Prison in Lagos. But public anger quickly shifted, not just at her actions but at how she was handled. Nigerians condemned the release of embarrassing videos showing her in a vulnerable state, and Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo even ordered sanctions against those responsible for leaking the clip.

By August 13, a Lagos court dismissed the charges against her, and she was set free. On social media, she thanked people who stood by her, saying she was still in pain and needed treatment before telling her side of the story.

Then came the shocker.

Ossai Ovie Success, a media aide to Delta State governor Sheriff Oborevwori, announced that Emmanson would be offered a job in Delta with a monthly salary of ₦500,000. He also promised her a free trip to Delta, with flights, a luxury hotel stay, tours of tourist sites, and a ticket to the Delta Social Media Summit later this month.

The announcement has divided Nigerians. While some say it is a kind gesture after her public humiliation, others argue that it is unfair to reward someone who was accused of assaulting a flight attendant. Critics say there are countless graduates and hardworking youths in Delta who deserve such opportunities instead.
