Cult Clash Claims Lives Near Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka
Hoodlums suspected to be cultists attacked Ifite-Awka near the Nnamdi Azikiwe University gate in Anambra State, killing no fewer than six persons.
The gunmen reportedly opened fire early on Thursday targeting members of a rival cult group and creating apprehension in the area. The attackers were searching for rival cultists near the UNIZIK gate.
More than six people were shot near Witness Garden on Ifite Amansea Road, according to a student eyewitness, while a lecturer confirmed seeing multiple bodies.
Police responded to the incident around 9:15 am, recovering bullet shells and rushing four critically injured victims to the hospital. Investigations are ongoing, according to Anambra State Police spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

Fire Incident Reported at Murtala Muhammed Airport
It has been reported that fire occurred at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos (MMIA), Terminal 1. This fire incident occurred on Monday, 23rd of February, 2026.
Passengers at that terminal were spotted running away for safety after seeing the fire and the alarm.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) released a statement and shared that no life was lost and people were saved and avoided danger.
