Davido Reflects on His Generation’s Future in the Music Industry
Nigerian singer Davido speaks to his colleagues and shares that it is time for them to take a step back and let upcoming and rising stars shine.
“This is me and my contemporaries’ last 5–6 years. I am not going to be 40, still dragging the spotlight with guys in their 20s. Jay-Z took a break and he is doing his thing.”
“I can take a 10-year break, come back, and still do a 50-arena tour. I have the catalogue. I might decide not to make another song for the rest of my life, and nobody is touching my catalogue.”
“There are so many other things music should be able to help you branch into. I am not saying we should retire. But I am not going to be 40 and dragging the spotlight with some 20-year-old kid.”
Nigerian actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has revealed that she once had the chance to become a billionaire through the political field but turned it down.
She shared the reason she turned it down, saying it was because of her principles. She also shared that she would have compromised her principles if she had gone down that path.
“I tell people that if I wanted to be a billionaire, I could have been one easily. I’ve been offered that opportunity through politics, but I chose not to take it because it would compromise my principles.”
Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has spoken about why many filmmakers, actors, and actresses have taken to filming content for YouTube.
He revealed that it is all about the dollar exchange rate on YouTube.
“Nigerian filmmakers are rushing to YouTube because of the dollar exchange rate. At N1,400 to $1, they celebrate 1 million views because it can bring in about $10,000. But if the dollar falls to N200, everyone will run away from YouTube.”
Popular singer and songwriter Ciara announces her fifth pregnancy with her husband, Russell Wilson.
The singer made the announcement on her social media pages, where she shared a video of herself preparing for a baby’s arrival.
The couple has been together since 2015 and got married in 2016. They have three children together, while Ciara also has a son from a previous relationship.
