Davido Says He Doesn’t Get The Respect he Deserves After 15 Years In Music

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, better known as Davido, believes he hasn’t received the recognition he truly deserves for his contributions to Nigerian music.
In a chat with popular content creator Egungun of Lagos, Davido reflected on his long-standing career. He said, “I’ve been holding it down in the industry for 15 years, but people still don’t give me the credit I deserve.”
When asked if he thinks he has haters, he responded, “Of course, haters exist. But everywhere I go, the love is massive. So sometimes I wonder, where are the haters hiding?”
Even though he feels underappreciated, Davido remains one of Africa’s most decorated musicians. He recently took home the Artist of the Year and Digital Artist of the Year awards at the 17th Headies held in Lagos, further solidifying his influence on the continent’s music scene.
