“The Substance,” directed by Coralie Fargeat, is a body horror film that premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim.
The narrative centers on Elisabeth Sparkle, an aging actress who resorts to a black-market drug to rejuvenate herself, leading to unforeseen consequences. She is set to compete for Best Actress at the upcoming 2025 Oscars.
In her speech, Moore also addressed past challenges, revealing how skepticism from a producer once affected her self-perception. She mentioned the transformative power of resilience and self-belief in overcoming such doubts.

Ruggedman Criticizes “Afrobeats” as Cover for Untalented Artists
Nigerian rapper Ruggedman steps out to criticize the term Afrobeats and states how many artists hide under that category.
In a recent interview, he shares his thoughts stating that people who are even with no talent hide under the name Afrobeats and it gets accepted because of that.
“I don’t like Afrobeats as an umbrella genre from every music coming out of Africa. That was a mistake. I didn’t liked it from the beginning but when I complained people accused me of being jealous or trying to gatekeep,” he said.
“It is the people in the UK who started this thing of tagging every African music Afrobeats. Nigerians love classicism. They just wanted to give it a name,” he said.
