Veteran Nigerian musician Eldee The Don recently opened up about his father’s groundbreaking contributions to Nigeria’s digital revolution, revealing that his dad played a pivotal role in introducing the country to the internet.

Eldee shared this insight during an appearance on the Adesope Live show, where he reflected on how his early exposure to technology shaped his career in music.

According to Eldee, his father, though not a public figure, was a technological trailblazer.

He disclosed that his dad was responsible for establishing Nigeria’s very first internet connection.

At a time when the concept of the internet was still new, his father set up the first cyber café in Lagos, providing internet services to major oil companies, financial institutions like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and various government agencies.

“People might not know his name because he wasn’t someone who sought the spotlight,” Eldee explained.

“But my dad was the one who made that first connection possible.

He was the person behind the internet access that companies like Mobil and key government agencies relied on.”

Eldee’s father’s pioneering work in technology gave the artist unique advantages growing up.

While most people in Nigeria had limited exposure to the internet in the 1990s, Eldee had early access to cutting-edge technology.
