Ferdinand Reacts to Man Utd Ending Ferguson’s Role

Published

on

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has expressed his surprise at the club’s decision to end Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassadorial role. In a tweet on Tuesday, Ferdinand remarked that “no one is safe” at Old Trafford, implying that even the legendary manager is not exempt from changes within the club.

Ferdinand speculated that the move might be part of a broader message from Ineos, the company led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who acquired a minority stake in United in February. Ferguson will step down from his role at the end of the season, with the decision linked to a cost-cutting initiative that has also led to 250 staff redundancies, saving the club approximately £45 million.

We wanted to stay calm, play our game and believe that if it went to penalties, we had an exceptional goalkeeper. We didn’t turn the match into a chaotic battle. We controlled it.”
