“Liverpool Can Win Premier League and Champions League This Season” – Rio Ferdinand
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has predicted that Liverpool could achieve an extraordinary feat this season by winning both the Premier League and the Champions League.
His comments came after Liverpool’s impressive 2-0 victory over Real Madrid at Anfield, a performance that has further solidified their reputation as one of Europe’s most formidable teams.
Liverpool, under the guidance of manager Jürgen Klopp, are currently enjoying an exceptional season.
In the Premier League, they lead the standings with 31 points, maintaining an eight-point gap ahead of their closest rivals, Manchester City.
This dominance on the domestic front is mirrored in Europe, where they sit at the top of their Champions League group with a perfect record of 15 points.
Speaking on TNT Sports, Ferdinand highlighted Liverpool’s remarkable form, praising their ability to perform at the highest level against elite opposition.
“Liverpool have set the standard for other teams in Europe,” he remarked.
“They are currently the team to beat. Watching them, you can see the confidence and unity in their squad. They’re in fantastic form.”
Ferdinand also acknowledged the challenge faced by Real Madrid and their manager, Arne Slot.
“For Slot, this game was a test to see how his team could match up against a side of Liverpool’s caliber,” he said.
Despite their strong history in the Champions League, Real Madrid struggled to break through Liverpool’s solid defense and dynamic attack.
Liverpool’s resurgence this season has been fueled by a combination of factors, including the return to fitness of key players, Klopp’s tactical adjustments, and the emergence of young talents who have added depth to the squad.
The team’s attacking trio, supported by a robust midfield and a solid defensive line, has consistently delivered results both domestically and in Europe.
Ferdinand didn’t hold back in his admiration for Liverpool’s potential this season.
“If I had to pick a team most likely to win both the Premier League and Champions League, my money would be on Liverpool,” he stated.
