German President Steinmeier to Visit Nigeria for Strengthened Bilateral Ties

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is set to arrive in Nigeria on Tuesday, December 10, for a two-day state visit, the German Embassy in Nigeria announced.

During his visit, President Steinmeier will meet with Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Alieu Omar Touray, the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission.

Following his engagements in Abuja, Steinmeier will travel to Lagos, where he will interact with business representatives, visit a start-up hub, and meet with individuals from Nigeria’s cultural and civil society sectors.

Accompanying the German President is a delegation of CEOs and senior executives from leading German companies specializing in IT, high-tech, and energy. This reflects Germany’s growing interest in investing in Nigeria’s diverse economic opportunities.

“This visit sends a strong signal: Nigeria is an important political, economic, and cultural partner of Germany in Africa,” the German Embassy stated.
