Gospel Artist and Radio Host Big Bolaji Dies at 50 After Brief Illness

Nigerian gospel artist and radio host Bolaji Olarewaju, widely known as Big Bolaji, has passed away. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement released on Saturday, revealing that he died after a short illness.
Described as a beloved husband, father, brother, and an influential figure in both the gospel music scene and the church, Bolaji was an ordained pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
He died on Easter Saturday, April 19, 2025. Big Bolaji had recently marked his 50th birthday, a milestone many celebrated with him.
He started his journey in gospel music with the group J’apha and over the years, became a voice that inspired many through his music and radio talk shows. The family says arrangements for his burial will be announced soon.

“Let blue smoke mean a new Pope has not been elected and let white smoke mean he has. Remove the black. It’s not good for us.”
