Governor Seyi Makinde Denies Receiving N570bn Hardship Grant from Federal Government
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has refuted claims that his administration received a share of the N570 billion hardship grant reportedly disbursed by the Federal Government to state governments.
In a newsletter posted on his X handle, Makinde clarified that the funds were actually part of the World Bank-assisted NG-CARES project, aimed at COVID-19 recovery efforts.
He emphasized that the Federal Government acted as a conduit for reimbursements and did not directly allocate any funds to the states.
This statement comes in response to President Bola Tinubu’s recent announcement about the distribution of the funds during a nationwide broadcast addressing the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.
