On July 22, 2024, it was reported by Francis Ugwu that the Biden-Harris campaign has officially revised its filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to reflect a significant change in its leadership and focus.

The campaign has renamed its principal committee and now recognizes Kamala Harris as a presidential candidate.

According to the Campaign Legal Center, Harris is permitted to take over the Biden-Harris campaign account, provided she remains a candidate for the general election. As of the end of June, the campaign account had a substantial balance of nearly $96 million.

On the same day, President Joe Biden announced the suspension of his reelection campaign for 2024. Shortly after Biden’s withdrawal, the campaign committee promptly updated its paperwork with the FEC, officially redesignating the committee as “Harris for President.”

Alongside this re-designation, a letter was submitted to the FEC confirming that Vice President Harris is now a candidate for the U.S. presidency in the upcoming election.

Nigerian news analyst, Mahmud Jega, has shared his opinion on the recent airstrike carried out by the United States in Nigeria, stating that Nigerians should not blame President Bola Tinubu for the incident.

Jega made this statement during a recent interview, where he said he does not believe many people will hold the Tinubu administration responsible, as Donald Trump had issued threats against Nigeria long before Tinubu’s administration.

“No, I don’t think many people will blame the Tinubu administration for what is happening now because President Donald Trump, when he first made the threats, it was clearly not in coordination with the Tinubu administration or the government of Nigeria,” Jega said.
