Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand believes four players might struggle to fit into Ruben Amorim’s tactical approach.

Ferdinand pointed out that Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, and Rasmus Hojlund may not have the level of dynamism and athleticism needed for Amorim’s system at United.

Speaking after Man United’s 3-2 win over Ipswich Town in the Premier League, Ferdinand shared his thoughts on TNT Sports.

“I watched Sporting a few times, especially in Europe. They were an athletic, dynamic team,” he said. “That was one of the key qualities of that squad, and it played a big role in their success.

“But this United team isn’t built like that. They have other strengths, but when it comes to being physically dominant or outworking opponents, that’s not their strong suit.”

When asked if Zirkzee would fit into Amorim’s system, Ferdinand was doubtful. “No… De Ligt, Maguire, Hojlund – that’s not their game,” he added.

He emphasized that Amorim would need to find players who not only understand his tactical vision but also have the physical attributes to execute it effectively.
