Hilda Baci Plans to Cook the World’s Biggest Pot of Jollof Rice in Lagos
Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci is set to return to the spotlight with another bold challenge by cooking the largest pot of Jollof rice ever made. The record attempt is scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The star chef, who captured global attention in 2023 with her marathon cooking challenge, revealed that this new project has been on her mind for nearly two years. According to her, the idea started as a dream to showcase Jollof rice on a grand scale, and now it’s about to become reality.
At the heart of the plan is a specially designed pot, six metres wide and six metres tall, big enough to hold thousands of portions of Jollof. Videos of the pot’s construction have already gone viral online, with fans marveling at the size and creativity behind it. Also, Hilda teamed up with Gino to make the project possible.
To ensure everything goes smoothly, Hilda and her team recently carried out a test run. The practice session gave them a chance to figure out how such a huge meal will be cooked, stirred, and served on the big day.
