As the nationwide protests continue into their second day, prominent human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has urged the youth to halt their demonstrations and engage in dialogue with the government.

In a statement released on Friday, Adegboruwa expressed concern that the original objectives of the protest had been compromised due to the actions of “sponsored agents” who have allegedly infiltrated the ranks of the demonstrators.

He highlighted that while the protests were initially intended to be peaceful and well-organized, it appears that certain individuals with ulterior motives have disrupted these efforts.

Adegboruwa emphasized that the presence of these disruptive elements has undermined the positive goals of the protests. In light of this, he has called for the protesters to cease their activities and withdraw from their various protest sites.

He believes that an immediate and indefinite suspension of the demonstrations is necessary to facilitate meaningful dialogue and constructive engagement with the government.

The human rights lawyer stressed that avoiding further confrontation and potential casualties is crucial.

He appealed to the leaders and representatives of the protests to embrace dialogue as a means of addressing their grievances with the government, thereby ensuring that the fundamental aims of the protests are not lost amid the chaos.

“How Can We Support the Killing of Our Own People?” – Wike Fires Back at Genocide Allegations

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, spoke on Donald Trump’s threat to Nigeria regarding taking care of the Christian genocide.

The minister appeared as a guest on a TV program and spoke on the current situation, stating that politics has been taken too far.

The minister questioned the claims made, saying “It is an indictment that a government I am serving, anybody will allege that that government is supporting genocide, killing of Christians and I am still in that government.

This is politics taken too far. The Inspector General of Police is a Christian, the Director General of the Department of State Services is a Christian, the Chief of Defence (Staff) is a Christian.

Tell me how any right-thinking person will think that we will sit in a government and support the killing of our own people?”
