Fenerbahce’s manager, Jose Mourinho, has expressed his desire to lead a national team before concluding his illustrious managerial career.

The iconic Portuguese coach, who was dismissed by AS Roma in early 2024, took charge of Turkish giants Fenerbahce later in the year.

Mourinho, a household name in football, has an impressive résumé that includes managing top clubs like Chelsea, Porto, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Roma.

Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho reflected on his future aspirations.

“I haven’t watched Roma play since I left, but I have watched Inter,” he admitted.

“I want to manage a European Championship or a World Cup, bringing a country together around its national team.

I’ve done it with clubs before, and to do it for a nation would be an incredible experience.”

“I remember being 15 and going into my final year, and I told myself that if I didn’t get into a professional club, I would quit football. It was that simple,” he said.

“I would just stop pursuing it seriously and only play for fun. Thank God I eventually got a club, because I honestly don’t know where I would be otherwise.”
