Nigerian musical artist Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, better known as Joeboy, has fired back at critics who label his music as average.

In recent weeks, some detractors have described his songs as “mid,” a slang term used to dismiss something as mediocre.

Speaking on the ‘Backstage Banter’ podcast, the singer, known for hits like “Baby” and “Alcohol,” dismissed the criticism with confidence. He emphasized that his journey and accomplishments speak volumes about his talent and work ethic.

“There’s nothing ‘mid’ about my existence,” Joeboy stated. “Reaching this level in my career at such a young age while staying grounded is a big deal.”

The 26-year-old further addressed the mentality behind such critiques. “I think the people criticizing me are unhappy with their lives.
