“It’s a strong result” – Maresca Praises Chelsea’s 2-0 Win Over LAFC

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca described their 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC in the Club World Cup opener as a solid and satisfying performance. Goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez in each half gave the Blues a smooth start in the competition, with Maresca praising the team’s overall display.

“It’s a strong result,” he said during his interview with Channel 5. “This point in the season comes with its own challenges, so you have to manage a lot, but I think we handled it well.” The match also marked a key moment for youngster Liam Delap, who made his debut for Chelsea. Coming off the bench, the former Ipswich striker wasted no time making an impact, setting up Fernandez’s goal.

“The good thing with Liam is that he already understands our playing style, so adapting wasn’t difficult,” Maresca explained. He also mentioned the introduction of Dario Essugo, noting that giving young players opportunities is part of the club’s plan. “It’s a positive step for both of them,” he said.
