Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has shared her excitement about stepping into the world of acting with her role in the upcoming Hollywood fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone. In a recent chat with CBS, Ayra opened up about how different acting felt compared to her music career. She admitted the experience pushed her to work harder and stick to strict schedules, something she wasn’t used to in music.

“This is my first movie ever,” she said. “I’m so used to being a singer, showing up on set and being a diva. But with acting, it’s not about you. You have to be on time, you have to be ready. It really taught me discipline and respect for actors. Their stamina is unbelievable.”

Ayra also revealed that acting has always been a dream of hers, but fear held her back. “I’ve always wanted to act, but I was so shy. This was my first time being in front of a camera and not singing. It was an amazing experience. I learned so much, not just from the legends, but from everyone on set.”

Children of Blood and Bone is based on the bestselling novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. The film features a star-studded cast including Damson Idris, Tosin Cole, Idris Elba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Thuso Mbedu. The highly anticipated film is set to hit cinemas on January 15, 2027, distributed by Paramount Pictures.
