“I’ve Been Paid with Yams and Chickens” — Tim Godfrey Laments Poor Treatment of Gospel Singers
Nigerian gospel singer Tim Godfrey reacted to the ongoing discussion about the high performance fees charged by some gospel artists.
It can be recalled that singer Timi Dakolo had shared that gospel singers should perform for free and not charge high fees. However, Tim Godfrey responded, revealing a hidden truth:
“Coming to Nigeria has become difficult because of how badly artistes are treated. The stories about why artistes charge or collect money got me so mad, and I asked, why are people so wicked? What sense does it make that people work so hard, yet you say they shouldn’t be paid?”

Nigerian TikTok influencer Peller makes headlines for his vows to his wife, Jarvis, at their white wedding, which was held on August 1, 2026. The couple had previously announced the date ahead of their wedding.
The influencer added in his vows “We are one. Whatever is mine is yours. I promise to do 50/50 with you; I don’t care what people say.”
Fans were left in awe of the couple and shared how their love appears genuine despite the content and jokes they often make online.
Nigerian music executive Soso Soberekon offers Peter Okoye ₦500 million if he beats his brother, Paul Okoye, in a boxing match.
It can be noted that the music executive wrote out the offer on his phone and simply put it out “₦500 Million Naira to fight your twin in a boxing match.”
